The Paper Pulp Process

The unique process for my fiber (paper pulp) painting was developed by me a few years ago. The paintings are created on a screen with handmade and hand dyed wet paper pulp made from abaca and cotton fiber. Organic elements are added as the artwork is created. There is no glue or other adhesive involved in this process. Pastel, watercolor or ink may be applied while the work is in progress. Once finished the piece is left to dry on the screen and then is removed and adhered to a matboard or canvas backing. All of the paintings are framed in a deep wooden frame with an acrylic glazing except for the untitled piece which is framed under glass in a thin black frame.
